DESCRIPTION:Nelson Community Food Centre will be hosting a Conversation Café on Wednesday\, September 23 from 1-3 pm.  The first in our Café series\, we’re bringing the topic of advocacy to the table! \nWe thought a great place to start would be with a guest from Nelson’s Advocacy Centre\, Amy Taylor. \nThis is a free event\, open to everyone\, with no pressure to participate in conversation. \nWhat’s on the Menu: \nAmy will share how The Advocacy Centre offers one-on-one support\, information\, representation\, and referrals around topics such as: \n\nIncome Assistance and Disability Benefits\nCommunity-Based Victim Services\nLegal Aid/Legal Resources\nTenant Rights\nFamily Law\n\nAmy will answer any questions you may have about these topics\, how to access The Advocacy Centre\, and more!  We’ll have time left for general discussion and socializing. \nThere will be coffee generously donated by Oso Negro\, a selection of tea\, and snacks\, including locally baked goods and a veggie platter made from our garden. \n\n\nSo bring your curiosity\, appetite\, and lovely self\, and pull up a seat at the table! \n\n\nContact Rosemary:\nrosemary@nelsoncfc.ca\n778-463-5350\nwith any questions or to RSVP (optional\, but helpful for us to prepare)

DESCRIPTION:In observance of Truth and Reconciliation Day\, NCFC will host a film screening of YINTAH from 2-5 pm in place of our regular hours. We will serve popcorn and puffed wild rice. \nSpanning more than a decade\, YINTAH follows Howilhkat Freda Huson and Sleydo’ Molly Wickham as their nation reoccupies and protects their ancestral lands from the Canadian government and several of the largest fossil fuel companies on earth. LEARN MORE \nPlease note that NCFC will be open only from 2-5 pm on Sept. 30th.
