Because of COVID-19 and the restrictions of physical distancing, we are doing things a little differently in our Food Skills programs. Don’t worry though, we’ll still having some fun and connecting around good food for all.
We’ve launched a new cooking show, with Michaela Woeller, our Food Skills coordinator. Our intention is to post one video a week so stay tuned to this, and the Food Skills playlist on our YouTube channel. We try to provide simple recipes, tips and tricks, that’ll make it easier (and hopefully more fun) to cook with the healthy ingredients you pick up from the Good Food Bank every week. We included a couple samples below, but if you don’t want to miss any, subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Kids Club – At Home!
We are offering a new version of Kids Club—a meal kit that you can take home and make with the whole family. You will also receive a link to an instructional cooking video along with all the ingredients needed to make a yummy dish! This program will be available once a month and is completely free. Our next meal kit will be fall veggie fritters, available on Oct 6st. Click here for more details and to register.
Meal kits can be picked up at the Nelson Community Food Centre (602 Silica St). The package will include ingredients, a recipe card, links to an instructional recipe video (featuring Michaela) and survey about the program. We will have a ‘help line’ where kids can call or email in questions as well as send us photos of their creations.
