OUR SUPPORTERS - NELSON COMMUNITY FOOD CENTRE
The Nelson Community Food Centre could not operate without the generous support of our funders and donors, near and far.
We would like to thank the government of British Columbia for grant funding, MAZON Canada for funding our Access to Protein program which allows us to purchase locally produced eggs, the Osprey Community Foundation for funding various programs over the years, Nelson & District Credit Union for supporting our special events, and the Columbia Basin Trust for funding our garden.
We are also thankful for grant funding and mentorship from Community Food Centres Canada, who have been working closely with us since 2015 to help us achieve our long term goals.
The Kootenay Co-op Grocery store deserves special mention for supporting our Holiday Hampers, Garden Project, Food Skills Workshops, Chew On This event, Food Security Asset Mapping and Gap Analysis project, and making weekly food recovery donations.
We are thankful for the donations of produce from local farms Crooked Horn, Bent Blow and Red Lion over the past year. Georamas, Ellison’s Market, Pacific Northwest Garden Supply and Maglio Building Centre for their support to The Gardens, and the countless other local businesses who make valuable contributions to our organization.
Our Food Recovery partnership with the Hume Hotel allows us to provide nutritious prepared food to those who lack adequate cooking facilities or skills.
And financial donations enable us to grocery shop weekly to keep our shelves well stocked.
