A LETTER TO OUR COMMUNITY - NELSON COMMUNITY FOOD CENTRE

Dear Nelson Community, 

The Nelson Community Food Centre (NCFC) is experiencing financial difficulty due to an unanticipated funding shortfall that has forced us to make significant changes to staffing and programming. 

The Board and Staff are working very hard on a stabilization plan to carry us through until additional funding is secured. This includes endeavoring to meet existing commitments to funders and partners and focusing on stabilizing our operations. We have also been working with a local consultant and accountant to improve and streamline our processes.

In the midst of these current challenges, the Nelson Community Food Centre remains focused on our mission and is offering programming within our capacity, in order to serve the more than 250 households that come through our door each week. 

This means continuing to operate our Good Food Bank, modified Garden, Harvest Rescue and Food Skills programming alongside working  with community partners to explore further programming like our Bread Program.

The NCFC has always relied on the support we receive from our gracious donors, volunteers, local businesses and funders.  

And now more than ever, we hope you will continue to stand up for, and with us, so that we can continue to provide a vital service to our community. With your help, we can do it.
